The Merino Darn Tough Sock Review

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Merino Darn Tough socks. These socks have become my go-to choice for aerobic outdoor activities and the extended weekend sock. In this review, I’ll share my experience with these socks, focusing on comfort, durability, and overall performance.

Comfort

The first time I held the socks in my hand I thought – wow, there’s lots of wool in here. Slipping in, they felt snug but extremely comfortable and fitting. The Merino wool blend feels incredibly soft against the skin, and it provides excellent moisture-wicking properties. Whether I’m hiking, biking, or simply wearing them on a normal day, my feet stay dry and comfortable all day long. The cushioning is just right, offering support without feeling bulky, soon I decided to use them for a longer period of time. Our trip to Norway was just the right place to put these socks on llimit.

Durability

Laundry during any road trips are a luxurious task. In Norway, it’s even more exceptional because of the weather. Finding a sunny dry day for laundry was like looking for a pot of gold. One of the reasons why Merino woolen wear were my first choice. They don’t stink that quickly as when you have knits with synthetic fibers. I had the socks on for a 14 day period. In this time, they were on my feet during the day, for long, rugged and steep hikes to the crags as well as some backpacking trips to the norwegian peaks. They’ve held up exceptionally well. The reinforced heel and toe areas provide added protection and prevent premature wear and tear. A bit of peeling on the outer started to show at the heel where friction against the shoe was at it’s most, but there was never a time when these socks went out of shape or start to get thin. Usually thats when blisters start.

Performance

The Merino Darn Tough socks provided excellent temperature regulation, keeping my feet warm in cold weather and cool in the heat. We had a lot of water from the top, and from the bottom. I was really happy that these socks kept my feet dry. No matter how breathable a Goretex shoe is praised, you’re still wearing a plastic bag around your feet. Sweaty feet causes blisters develop faster, thats why it’s essential to air your feet whenever possible, especially during the breaks in the hikes. The snug fit prevent any bunching or slipping throughout the day. Most of the socks I have either lose their shape after multiple washes or worse, during an outing. The Darn Tough socks stood solidly through all these conditions. I used them 14 days in a row because I never felt they were ready for the laundry. They resist odors remarkably well, even after multiple wears.

Conclusion

The Merino Darn Tough socks, made in Vermont, USA are a good investment for anyone in need of high-quality, comfortable, and durable socks. They excel in performance, offering moisture-wicking, temperature regulation, and odor resistance. The company offers a lifetime guarantee on wear and tear. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or simply looking for everyday socks, these will not disappoint. They come in various colors and designs for the girls and boys. I love their design and colour combinations, and I would love to see even more variety in future!
